New to Great Valley Ice Hockey? This page helps families understand the program, equipment, registration, TeamSnap, communication, and what to expect during the season.
School Hockey Can Feel Confusing at First
That is normal. Many families come into hockey unsure about divisions, equipment, schedules, TeamSnap, registration, or how school hockey fits with club hockey. This page gives new families a simple starting point.

Players are grouped by school level: Elementary, Middle School, and High School.
Check Registration
Middle School and High School registration are currently open. Elementary registration will open later in the summer.

Ask Questions
New families are encouraged to reach out before registration if they are unsure where to start.
Basic Equipment
Equipment needs can vary by age, league rules, and player position. Families should always confirm requirements before purchasing.
- Helmet with cage or full face protection
- Shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, and hockey pants
- Shin guards, skates, stick, and hockey socks
- Neck guard and mouthguard if required
- Goalie equipment for players registering as goalies
Club Hockey vs. School Hockey
Many players participate in both club hockey and school hockey. School hockey gives players a chance to represent their school community and play with classmates.
